COUNTY EXECUTIVE'S WELCOME
Dear Business Leader:
When it comes to creating the right atmosphere for business, Westchester County definitely has the advantage.
We already have an edge by virtue of being ideally situated in the heart of one of the world's greatest metropolitan area markets - New York City. Yet we offer all the economic, recreational and cultural benefits that come with a more suburban quality of life.
Many CEOs have already discovered that we can boast of the lowest office rents in the region, a talented and educated labor force, and a convenient transportation system that includes three Metro North rail lines and our own Westchester County Airport. Add to that our pro-business philosophy and state-of-the-art infrastructure and you'll see why we're already home to more than a dozen Fortune 500 companies and almost 30,000 small businesses.
Economic development is a top priority for my administration and we continually seek out unprecedented initiatives to create a business-friendly atmosphere. To make sure we can provide the assistance and/or financial incentives you need, we offer a full-time professionally staffed Office of Economic Development and Industrial Development Agency.
In an effort to attract new business while retaining and expanding those already here, we have developed a comprehensive economic development strategy. This unique plan places special emphasis on six key growth industries: information technology, biotechnology and life science, corporate headquarters and services, education, manufacturing and tourism.
The county has also worked with Cablevision Lightpath to complete a 450-mile high speed fiber optic network that is dramatically expanding voice, video and data capabilities for government, business and residents.
You can learn even more about what we have to offer by visiting our economic development web site at www.westchestergov.com/economic. A special "real estate data" link allows tenants and brokers to easily search 25 million square feet of office space throughout the county by size, price or location.
Let us help you take advantage of Westchester's business resources. If we can help, please call Salvatore J. Carrera, director of Economic Development and Real Estate, at (914) 995-2926 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
